American West – Discover the new creations by Laurent Baheux
YellowKorner is pleased to present in its galleries the all-new photographic series by Laurent Baheux. The French photographer is now famous for his portraits of African wildlife shown at the London Museum of National History in 2008, or at the 38th Rencontres d’Arles. He recently transposed his practice of black and white photography to the representation of the natural landscapes of the American West.
His desire to explore new horizons led him to the heart of the natural wilderness of the United States. Across the plains, mountains, and deserts of Montana, Wyoming, or Colorado, he discovered all the diversity and majesty of these immense territories that remain preserved today; just as the great master of photography Ansel Adams had before him.
His artistic interpretation is characterised by deep blacks and contrasts of rare intensity, forming a random and subtle alchemy that combines beauty and emotion, always striving to detach themselves from the representation of reality in order to present a vision that is at once poetic and personal.
